Potato, Tomato, Onion Gratin
The wider the dish, the quicker this will cook and the more of the crispy topping you’ll have. Thinly slice 1 potato, 1 tomato, 1/2 onion (or multiples in that ratio) and layer with some freshly ground black pepper and thin slices of cheese (I used a local farmhouse cheese, like a gruyere). Top with cheese. Bake for 45-60 minutes until fully cooked. Serve with green salad.

Greens with Miso Gravy
Fry 1/2 chopped onion in a little oil until very soft. Add a grated/finely chopped clove of garlic, stir, then add chopped greens (I used rainbow chard). Stir, then add vegetable stock and simmer until greens are wilted (not long). After removing from the heat, stir in a small spoonful of miso paste. I served this over mashed potatoes.

Baked Stuffed Aubergines with Mashed Potatoes
Followed this recipe for stuffed aubergine. Fabulous! I used green olives, black would probably have been a little nicer but green were fine. Tips: Very important for the filling not to protrude too much above the edge of the aubergine shell, and for it all to be covered by the layer of breadcrumbs so it doesn’t burn in the oven. Scrape as much flesh out of the aubergine as possible...

Salad tossed in dressing of grated garlic, balsamic vinegar and olive oil. lettuce cucumber (shredded) carrot (shredded) cherry tomatoes (halved) avocado sunflower seeds Courgette (Zucchini) Bread As per this recipe, omitting feta and peppers. The Monty Hall Problem
I had a very hard time accepting the truth of the Monty Hall problem the first time I heard it, but eventually I figured it out. When Monty Hall opens one of the two “other” doors, Monty Hall is INTRODUCING MORE INFORMATION INTO THE SYSTEM. He is not choosing a random door, he is choosing a door which he KNOWS does not have a prize behind it.

Keyboard Driven Browsing
So, I’ve been thinking it would be nice to do less mousy browsing and control Firefox using keystrokes, but I didn’t bother researching the idea at all. And, I didn’t have to. Today, both vim and emacs style browser navigation tools dropped into my lap.
